With so many great memories already behind us how could we top this.
After disembarking the Skorpia III we caught the bus to El Calafate over the Argentina border. We rented a car and drove into what might be my favorite area, with views of the Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre peaks. We stopped at the climbing station at El Chalten and then on to our B&B at El Pilar.
Here is a sample of our time in this region.
First just getting there.
These intial views deserve their own space…
We spent the rainy next day just exploring and hiking in the Lago del Desierto area. The Fitz Roy would have to wait for sunshine.
And of course just in time for dinner the sun did make it’s appearance.
As dawn came we were well prepared for the hike into the Fitz Roy region. 13.2 miles and 3,250 feet up. Fitz Roy and Cerro Terro peaks were visible off and on and of course we stopped often to take pictures. I’ve put too many pictures in but enjoy.
We leave the Mountain Parks now for a brief stop at Iquazu Falls.
